Was the property you purchased sold by the occupants? If it was sold by an absentee property owner or as a result of probate, for examples, the seller may not know very much about the property to disclose. It needed some work, but was basically sound. Anyhow, after a few weeks, the sewage backed up into the house. Why? Root invasion of the lateral between the house and the sewer main. Shouldn't this have been disclosed to me during my purchase? Sure, I can have the roots drilled out, but ultimately I was told that I'll need to make an $8000 repair to replace the lateral!
